The enclosure is a system—not a list of materials

A wine-cellar envelope succeeds only when its thermal, vapor, air, glass, door, and transition layers work as one system.

Insulation, vapor control, glass, doors, penetrations, and transitions do not perform independently. They form one continuous thermal, vapor, and air-control system. A single weak interface can compromise otherwise excellent materials.

That is why the envelope must be designed and coordinated as an integrated assembly. The questions are not simply what insulation was specified or whether a vapor retarder appears on a drawing. The questions are where each control layer begins, where it ends, how it changes plane, and who owns every transition.

Continuity is the work. When the enclosure is resolved early, refrigeration can do the job it was engineered to do instead of compensating for failures in the architecture around it.
